Key 1: Focus

Engage your most important muscle first. Your brain! to get the most out of each movement. Don't think about anything other than the muscle you are working on. This applies to all levels of weight training. Beginners and Advanced, and aids in rapid growth.

Key 2: Progress

To make progress, you must set training session goals. Improve each session you train. In terms of the amount of weight you lift. Or the number of repetitions you perform. Always strive to progress.

If you want to build muscle mass with your weight lifting, you need to train heavy and hard. Your training needs to be infrequent but extremely intense.

You can also improve by making a small improvement to your technique. A variation on your existing movement. Or the inclusion of a new exercise. Sometimes that's all you need to trigger new growth.

Key 3: Recover

For your muscle to grow, it has to recover first. Allow enough time for recovery. If you don't, you won't grow. Training each muscle group once or twice a week is sufficient for most people.

You then need to follow that up with plenty of rest to allow your body to repair and rebuild muscle. So don't feel guilty on your rest days. They are as important as your training days!

Research shows that free weights promote quicker strength gains. They require more balance and coordination than when you use weight machines.

Free weights also use more muscle groups than resistance machines, which tend to isolate specific muscles. Therefore, You must have a weight lifting program that is tailored to accomplishing your specific goal.

Bodyworks Fitness has facilities and separate training areas for your free weights and resistance training. You can use a combination in your training session that can use both free weights and machines. Or simply focus on one or the other.

Your program can be designed by both you and our fully trained staff. When you join you can book a Free one-to-one session. Together you go through various weight lifting exercises. For correct movements, safety and maximum muscle gain or tone.

In order to get the most from both muscle gain and joint stability, you can focus on free weights for some exercises and machines for others. There is plenty of space for you to work towards improving each session and all members and staff are happy to help and assist should you require.
